Mary M. (Muldoon) Lowney, 85, of Fairhaven died Friday January 11, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Paul John Lowney.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Mary Ann (Greeley) Muldoon, she lived in New Bedford before moving to Fairhaven in 1980.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven.
Mrs. Lowney enjoyed a long and varied career as a registered nurse.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed gardening, the beach, and her family.
She is survived by six children, Mary Beth Lowney Boy and her husband Everett of West Dennis, Patricia L'Abbe and her husband Russell of New Bedford, Margaret Shaefer and her husband Dr. Jeffry of Hingham, Maureen Laferriere and her husband Louis of Key West, FL, Paul J. Lowney, Jr. and his wife Maureen of West Yarmouth, and Ellen Shea and her husband Richard of New Bedford; her son-in-law, James J. Kalife of Fairhaven; ten grandchildren, Paul John, Seamus, Sam, Kathleen, Johnny, Thomas, Bridgit, Mary, Patrick, and Molly; two great-grandchildren, Phynen and Rowyn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kathleen Kalife and sister of the late Margaret M. Quinn, Thomas P. Muldoon, Francis J. Muldoon, Dr. William B. Muldoon, and John J. Muldoon.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 3-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
