Mrs. Claire V. O'Connor, age 86, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, after a brief illness. Born in Arlington, Claire was the devoted daughter of the late Annie T. (Tanck) English & George J. English.
Born and raised in Arlington, Claire was most recently a resident of Woburn at the New Horizons Center, 21 Warren St. She lived previously at Place Lane. She worked for 20 years at BayBanks in the Loan Dept. She loved to travel all over New England, especially Peaks Island, ME, Old Orchard Beach, ME and all of New Hampshire. She would occasionally take a trip to Foxwoods casino to play the slots.
Claire was a member of the "Red Hats" at New Horizons Center and former volunteer of the Arlington Band and Drum corp. She especially loved visits from her large and loving family.
Claire was the beloved wife of the late John A. O'Connor. Devoted mother of Elizabeth Vertz and her husband Paul of TX, Patrick John O'Connor and his wife Virginia of Lynn, Mary Bates and her husband Stephen of CO, Gerard O'Connor and Daniel O'Connor both of WA, Kevin O'Connor and his wife Diane of NH, William O'Connor and his wife Elizabeth Grace of TX, and the late Patricia Cronin. Mother-in-law of Connie Cronin of North Andover. Also survived by 11 loving grandchildren and 2 loving great grandchildren. Sister of Mary Harkins of Carlisle, Helen Plummer of Centerville and Charles English of Burlington.
Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN, Wednesday, January 16th at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St. Woburn at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
