Mary (Ennes) Lopes, 88, of Acushnet died January 10, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Lopes.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Olive (Martin) Ennes, she lived in New Bedford before moving to Acushnet 14 years ago.
Mae, as she was known by her family and friends, enjoyed playing cards, bingo, playing the lottery and watching the Game Show Network.
Survivors include her loving children, Carole Lopes of California, Doreen Lopes-Smith and her husband Carlton of Boston, and Joseph Lopes, Jr. and his wife Linda of Acushnet; her adopted daughter, Rita "Sandy" Ribeiro of New Bedford; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was the loving sister of the late Dorothy Barros, Walter Ennes, Rose Miranda, Charles Ennes, Napoleon Ennes, Joseph Ennes, Jr. and Edward Martin.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 14th at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Monday 8:30-9:30 AM prior to the Mass.
