NATICK: Catherine T. (Manning) Hagemeister, age 85, a longtime resident of Natick, died peacefully on Thursday morning, January 10, 2013, at the Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas D. Hagemeister for 40 years.
Born, raised and educated in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Catherine (Hehir) Manning. Catherine joined in the war effort during World War II, and afterward was employed with Liggett Drug Store in Boston. It was there that she met her future husband. They married in 1950.
The Hagemeisters lived in East Boston prior to settling in Natick in 1956. Catherine created a warm and loving home for her young family and enjoyed spending time with her other family members who now made Natick their home. When her daughter joined with friends to create an acting troupe called “Theatre Makers,” Catherine was there to help book dates for performances at various venues and was ready each show night to run the box office. She prized nothing above visits from loved ones and was a lady who will be remembered for her sharp eye and quick wit.
Predeceased by her husband in 1990, she is survived by her daughter, Margaret P. Hagemeister of Natick; two sisters, Rita Grace of RI, and Helen Devine of Natick; a brother, Paul Manning and his wife Julia of Rockland; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Anna Gerstel, Patrick “PJ” Manning, John Manning, and Margaret Fitzpatrick.
Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Monday, Jan. 14th at 8:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, at 9:00a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2 – 5p.m.
