Charles "Chic" Napier, 95, of New Bedford died Wednesday January 9, 2013 at Hallmark Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Eastwood) Napier.
Born in Portsmouth, RI, the son of the late Alexander and Margaret (Watson) Napier, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a former member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ.
Mr. Napier was formerly employed as a welder at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Woods Hole until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Boston.
He was a member of the Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed camping in New Hampshire and golfing.
He is survived by his children, Charles W. Napier and his wife Elizabeth of Freetown, Patricia M. Goulart and her husband Jeritt of Dartmouth, and David A. Napier and his wife Laura of New Bedford; his daughter-in-law, Denise Napier; his grandchildren; Melissa M. Nunes and her husband Joseph, Kevin R. Amaral and his wife Lucy, Brant J. Napier and his wife Michelle, Travis B. Napier, David G. Napier, Cody T. Napier, Hayley E. Napier, and Stefanie B. Napier; and his great-grandchildren, Hayden Grace Napier, Reese Elizabeth Napier, Jonathan Nunes, Jordan Nunes, Justin Amaral, and Ashley Amaral.
He was the father of the late Peter E. Napier.
Funeral Services will be private. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
