Obituary

Fallon, Mary Elizabeth, passed away January 8, 2013, at the age of 97 after a brief illness. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth Giblin and Michael Fallon. She is survived by her cousins Marguerite Debler of Franklin and Jim Dolan of Charleston South Carolina (formerly from Dedham) and some dear friends.

Mary was born in Fall River. She graduated from Seaton Hall University and attended Catholic University where she obtained her graduate degree in Nursing Administration in 1957.
Mary enlisted in the Army October 1941 and was discharged January 1946 as a First Lieutenant. She was a nurse with the Army Nurse Corps 27th Evacuation Hospital which was deployed to several front lines in the European, Romo-Arno, southern France, Rhineland, and central Europe theaters. Her unit was one of the first US medical units to enter the Nazi concentration camp Dachau.
After the War, her nursing career took her to several hospitals including the VA Hospital in West Roxbury and the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain. Upon retiring, she was active with the Faulkner Hospital Auxiliary Fundraising Board for approximately 30 years and the hospital gift shop as a volunteer.
Mary was an avid reader and a dog lover. She was 95 when she adopted her last dog, Harry.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church West Roxbury on Monday January 14, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to The Salvation Army.
