TEWKSBURY - Glenroy E. “Roy” Taylor, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9. He was the husband of Evelyn A. (MacDonald) Taylor, with who he had celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary this past July 11th.
Roy was born in Cambridge, MA, in 1932, a son of the late Arthur and Helen Taylor, and graduated from Cambridge Latin High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was a long time resident of Tewksbury, and the E.N. Rogers VA Hospital in Bedford. Roy worked as a photographer for Raytheon Company at the Burlington, MA facility for many years. He loved life and enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, playing cards, and talking to people. During his years at the Bedford VA, he made many friends and was a regular at the Bingo games and at any events that took place at the hospital. He was also a life member of the Woburn B.P.O. Elks. He loved attending Mass every Sunday. Roy will be missed very much by his family and friends and the staff and his friends at the Bedford VA Hospital.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and George Varitimos of Hampton Beach, NH, Jane and Edward Charity of Windham, NH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Patricia (Audette) Taylor of Watertown, NY and David and Diane (McCormick) Taylor of Tewksbury; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, January 11, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Donations may be made in Roy’s name to the Edith Norse Rogers Memorial VA Hospital, Attn: Volunteer Services, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
