Ruth G. RYLANDER, 94, of Austin Avenue, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Ernest E. Rylander.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John and Pauline (Feeney) McGinn, she lived in Smithfield since 1954.
Mrs. Rylander was a teacher and school librarian in the Cumberland School Department until her retirement. She was a founding member of the Warwick Teachers’ Union. She was a member of the Interracial Council of RI and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She is survived by her children: Ernest E. Rylander, Jr. and his wife, Roberta, of Greenville and Paul B. Rylander and his companion, Diane St. Hilaire of Glocester; Rosemarie Cabral of Greenville, Kristina Sularz and her husband, Philip, of Jamestown, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and her siblings: MaryLou Idiacola of Cinnaminson, NJ and Paul McGinn of Greenville. She was the sister of the late Esther, Byron and John McGinn.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 9:30 in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Avenue, Greenville, RI 02828 . Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to The Greenville Public Library or St. Philip Church, St. Vincent dePaul Society.
