Obituary

Mrs. Ruth G. Flaherty, age 95, of Wilmington formerly of Everett passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 7th, at her home in Wilmington. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Flaherty retired Captain Everett Fire Dept. who passed in 1980. Born and raised in Everett she was the daughter of the late George and Ada (Barron) Nichols.

Ruth was raised and educated in Everett where she was a graduate of Everett High School. For many years she worked as a teacher's aid in the Everett School Dept. and was very active with and served on the Building Committee of the new Devens School and was also very active at the Everett Congregational Church. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, taking great pride in caring for her home always making sure it was a warm and welcoming place for family and friends to gather. Family was Ruth's primary focus in life and she cherished spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren whom she was most proud of. In her leisure time she enjoyed listening to classical music and following the different Boston sport teams. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and those who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her devoted children, Keith Flaherty and his wife Dawn of Wilmington, Craig Flaherty and his friend Daphne Williams of Maryland. She was the loving grandmother of Kathleen, Kelly and Patrick Flaherty, Erin. Darryl and Tarraugh Flaherty. She is also survived by four loving great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Doris Meecham, Marilyn Cottage, George and Ervin Nichols.

A funeral service celebrating Ruth's life will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home 374 Main St., Wilmington, Saturday, January 12th, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Friday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Interment services will be private.
