Fernand Joseph Dube, age 88, of Salem, died Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Beverly Hospital, following a year of failing health. He was the husband of Doris L. (Louf) Dube, with whom he had shared 63 years of marriage and who passed away in January of 2012.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Armand and Germaine (Banville) Dube. A Veteran of World War II, he served as a Tech 5 with the 9961st Medical Detachment with the Army. Joe worked in construction for T. Mackey Bros. Construction Co. for many years. He later worked for GTE Sylvania and his last employment was as custodian for Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead. He was member of the Salem Odd Fellows and a life member of the Palmer Cove Yacht Club. A member of St. James Parish, Joe was a weekly collector at the Sunday morning 7:30 mass.
He is survived by a son, Donald R. Dube of Toronto Ontario, a sister Yvonne Dube of Salem, his grandchildren Crystale A. Wozniak and her husband Adam and Matthew T. Verrette all of Peabody, a sister-in-law, Jeannette Dionne of Salem, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Diane Verrette.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, to be followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem at 11:00 A.M. A committal service is planned for Saturday morning at 11:00 A.M. Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
