Mr. Francis L. Lascelles Jr., age 95, of Exeter, NH formerly of Tewksbury, Woburn, Wilmington and Charlestown, passed away peacefully on January 6th, at the Genesis Health Care Center in New Hampshire following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Pauline L. (Dubord). Born and raised Charlestown he was one of seven children of the late Francis and Grace (Dodge) Lascelles.
At the age of 12, Mr. Lascelles moved with his family to Wilmington where he attended Wilmington Schools. In 1938 he married his sweet heart, Pauline L Dubord, at ceremony held in St. Thomas Church. In 1945 he was drafted into the United States Army and honorably served with the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, France and Belgium during WWII. When he returned home from the war he began working for the Mitchell Bakery Company as a deliveryman. He was also a part owner of the Family Bakery of Lowell for a number of years. He eventually he took a position with Sears & Roebuck Co. and worked for nearly 25 years prior to his retirement. Francis' greatest joy was his family. He was so proud of all their accomplishments and was always eager to stay up to date with what was going on in their lives. Throughout his life Francis enjoyed reading and working on puzzles. He also liked tropical fish and for many years he enjoyed caring for his collection of fish.
Francis is survived by his children, Geraldine Graney and her husband Thomas of Santa Clarita, CA, Joyce Cairns and her husband Robert of Hampstead, NH and Robert Lascelles and his wife Susan of York, ME. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 22 and ½ great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was the brother of William Lascelles and wife Kaliope of Laverne, CA, Grace McGondel and husband George of Wilmington, Pauline Capps and late husband James of Tewksbury, Jacqueline Bland and husband John of Salem, NH, the late Paul Lascelles, Edmund Lascelles and wife Josephine.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Friday, January 11th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Thursday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
