Lee Holmes Ozelius, age 52, of Brockton, died peacefully at home, January 7, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Daniel Ozelius and proud and doting mother of Alexander “Pasha” Holmes Ozelius. Born in Stoughton, May 15, 1960, and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Ethel (Heina) Holmes. Lee graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1978, and Massasoit Community College, class of 1980. She had first been employed as a legal secretary and then at Tech Automotive in West Bridgewater. Most recently she was the manager of Great Scott Kennel in Stoughton. Everyone who knew Lee knew of her great love of animals, especially her German Shepherd dogs and her American Eskimo dog, Sasha. She was always willing to take in one more animal in need of a home, or send another one to her sister.
Lee was a longtime member of Christ Congregational Church in Brockton where she served as Chair of the Board of Christian Education and played in the hand bell choir. She was an avid crocheter (NOT knitter as she would be quick to tell you) and donated many items to various local charities. She enjoyed playing Mahjong and excelled at it right from the start.
In addition to her husband and son, Lee is survived by her sister Kim Meredith Holmes of Brockton. She was the aunt of Brenna and Matthew Holmes-Mumford, niece of Karl Heina of Florida, Pauline Thomas of Manomet and cousin of Marianne Garvey. She leaves several other cousins and was predeceased by her aunt Regina Burba. She was a descendant of many Mayflower passengers through her father.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Thursday 4-8pm. Her funeral service will be held at Christ Congregational Church, 1350 Pleasant Street, Brockton, Friday at 10am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
