Mr. John B. Intravaia, age 87 died Sunday morning, January 6th at the Wilmington Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. Born in the West End of Boston, John was the beloved husband of Madeline C. (Buonomo) Intravaia.
John was raised in the West End of Boston. Soon after high school he joined the US Army and proudly served from October, 1943 to March, 1946. Serving in Central Europe, John was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal.
Settling in Somerville, John married Madeline C. Buonomo on September 4, 1960. They lived in Somerville until 1998 then moved to Woburn. John worked in the Produce Industry for over 40 years. He retired from Community Suffolk of Everett on January 8, 1988. John was a member of the VFW post of Somerville and he was a lifelong devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.
In addition to his beloved wife, John was survived by his devoted daughters, Joanne Intravaia and her husband Thomas Farrell, and Donna Intravaia-Higgins and her husband Thomas Higgins. Brother of Mary Carvelli, Rose Puma, Lenore Hayes, Richard Intravaia, Robert Intravaia and the late Salvatore Intravaia. He loved receiving frequent visits from Pepper, Cindy Lou and Minnie. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. WOBURN, Thursday January 10th at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Mausoleum, Everett.
