Obituary

Armindo O. Lima, 65, of New Bedford died Sunday January 6, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital due to complications from lung cancer, surrounded by his family and friends.
Armindo was the son of the late Anna "Nancy" Lima and grandson of the late Joanna Lima.
Born in the Cape Verde Islands, he came to this country when he was 15 years old and earned an Associate's degree and Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Armindo was employed up until his death at Mastria GMC in Raynham. He was formerly employed at NSTAR/ComElectric.
He loved reading and was just a great people person.
He is survived by his two daughters, Attorney Amanda A. Glinski and her husband Mark of New Bedford, and Paula Lima Jones and her husband Norm of Mechanicsburg, PA. He is also survived by a cousin whom he loved and treated as almost a daughter, Melanie Solange Lima of New Bedford.
The loves of his life were his two grandsons, Jake Glinski and Caleb Jones. He is also survived by his former wife, Mary Lou Cabral of Wareham.
He is survived by his brothers, Virgulino Duarte and his wife Candida and Gregory Lima and his wife Maria, all of New Bedford, John Ramos and his wife Loretta of North Carolina, and Stephen Lima of Templeton; his sisters, Maria Soares of New Bedford and Mercedes Duarte Leite of Cape Verde; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday at 6 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Armindo's name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
