Edmund F. Lynch Jr., a longtime Woburn resident formerly of Burlington passed away January 5th, at the Winchester Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (McLaughlin) Lynch who passed away in March of 2012. Born in Cambridge he was the son of the late Edmund and Edna (Carey) Lynch.
"Buzzy" as he was affectionately known to his family and friends was raised and educated in Burlington where he graduated from High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly and honorably served his country during the Korean War. Buzzy was a licensed journeyman electrician and worked for many years prior to his retirement for the New England Phone Company. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, traveling, spending the winter months in Florida, and never missed a summer in Hampton Beach for forty years. He was a member of the Woburn City Athletic Club and was also a member of the Woburn Elks.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Buzzy is predeceased by his sister, the late AnnMarie Sweeney.
He is survived by his sister Geraldine Markarian and her husband Al of Salem. He was a dear and cherished friend to the Beauchamp family of Woburn. Brother-in-law of Rita Stone and her husband George of Woburn, and Mary McLaughlin of Maine. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, January 9th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
