Mrs. Nellie Lou Smith Robinson, 97, of Jacksonville, Florida, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Monday, January 7, 2013 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Curtis Rhoden and Elder Jamey Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 12:30 on Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Robinson was born April 29, 1915 in Elberton, Georgia, to the late John Singleton and Cynthia Louise Gunter Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Regency Church of God in Jacksonville. A former resident of Ben Hill County, she had lived in Jacksonville since 1955. Mrs. Robinson loved flowers and gardening in her yard.
She is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth “Betty” Strange of Atlantic Beach, Florida and Tina Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida; her son: Joseph Robinson, Sr. of Jacksonville, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Lois Parsons of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John D. Robinson and two sons: Andrew “Jackie” Robinson and John D. Robinson, Jr.
