Obituary

William H. O’Brien, 89, formerly of Scenery Lane, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Patricia D. (Magers) O’Brien.
Born in East Providence, he was a son of the late William J. and Margaret (Riley) O’Brien. He had lived in Barrington and Johnston until recently moving to Greenville.
Mr. O’Brien was a fighter pilot during WWII for the Army Air Corps and he attended Moses Brown, Providence College and Norwich University.
Mr. O’Brien worked at Benny’s for over 60 years, primarily as general manager.
He is survived by his daugher: Patricia A. Spelman of Rehoboth, MA, his three sons: William J. O’Brien of Tustin, CA, John H. O’Brien of East Greenwich and Stephen P. O’Brien of Warwick, RI; 9 grandchildren: John C. and Michael S. Spelman, Meghan O’Brien, Marnie Primmer, William, Caitlin and James O’Brien, Aïda Cook and Erin O’Brien and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, John T. O’Brien of Smithfield. He was predeceased by his son, Robert F. O’Brien and sister Jeannine O’Brien.
Funeral Wednesday morning at 9am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, RI 02919. Burial with military honors in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations toSt. Robert Bellarmine Church Food Pantry.
