Edward S. Jay of Wakefield formerly of Medford and Barnstable, passed away Wednesday January 2, 2013. He was 88 years of age.
Born in Boston, Edward was the loving son of Simon and Margaret (Bradford) Jay. Edward was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Edward was the beloved husband of Vivian (Plourde) Jay. He was the devoted father of Edward S. Jay, Jr., and his wife Carol, Paul B. Jay and his wife Lucinda, Patricia M. Hogan and her husband Daniel, Mark A. Jay, Donna J. Jay, Kathleen M. Jay, Christine M. Alejunas and her husband Vyto, Mary Jane Jay and the late Carol A. and William R. Jay. Edward was the cherished grandfather of 19 and great grandfather of 6. He was the dear brother of Virginia McGiboney and Doris Powers both of Albuquerque, NM.
Edward was a proud US Army Veteran. He proudly defended our freedom during WWII where he saw action in the Pacific. Edward worked at the Post office for over 30 years. He spent his free time during retirement following Boston sports, as he was an avid Boston sports fan. He was a voracious reader who was never seen without a book or magazine. He loved his family and had a terrific sense of humor.
