Obituary

Lelia E. (Hill) Hunnewell, age 91, of Brockton, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of the late Bernard F. Hunnewell, Jr. Lifelong resident of Brockton, Lelia was the daughter of the late Alston L. and Estelle M. (Palmer) Hill. She was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1937, and had been a longtime communicant and volunteer at St. Colman Church/Christ the King Parish. Lelia enjoyed reading, movies, bingo, cribbage, gardening, cooking and traveling. She was a history buff, and would teach her grandchildren and great grandchildren through hours of storytelling and playing games with them.

She is survived by her children Jeannette Callaghan and her husband Thomas of Wareham, Bernard Hunnewell, III and his wife Carol, Roger Hunnewell, Ralph Hunnewell and his wife Cindy all of Brockton and Cynthia D’Ottavio and her husband Joseph of East Bridgewater; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister Gladys Bearse of West Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edward, Earl, Alston, Robert, Roger and Benjamin Hill, Rose Govey and Margaret Bearse.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 9:30am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish at 10:30am. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
