Obituary

Freedman, William 92 of Chelsea passed away on January 2, 2013. William born in Chelsea and was a resident of Chelsea for 70+ years. Mr. Freedman attended the Williams School, Chelsea and a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1938. He was the co-owner/operator of Harry Freedman and Sons Scrap Metal. William was a proud WWII Veteran and a member of the Malden Jewish War Veterans. William was also a member of Temple Emanuel of Chelsea and a member of the Temple Emanuel Brotherhood. He was also the past president of the Linas Hazedek Cemetery Association.


William was the beloved husband of Rhoda (Olans) Freedman. He was the devoted father of Jay Freedman and his wife Stephanie Elkind and Burt Freedman. He was the loving son of the late Harry Freedman and the late Bessie Freedman. William was the dear brother of Roberta Miller, Marcia Wish and her husband Shelley, the late Phillip Freedman, the late Beatrice Gaman and the late Florence Caplitz. He was also the loving grandfather of Isaac Freedman, Adam Freedman and Ariel Freedman.

Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Interment in Everett. Memorial Observance will be held at the home of Rhoda Freedman immediately following the interment until 2:00 PM and will resume Saturday at 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM and will also continue Sunday thru Wednesday 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:15 PM until 8:00 PM. Donations in William’s memory may be made to the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Foundation, 17 Lafayette Ave. Chelsea, MA 02150.
