GLOUCESTER: Ruth M. (Grigg) O’Brien, 88, died Friday afternoon, December 28, 2012 at the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Robert L. O’Brien, who died in August of 2004.
Born in Gloucester on September 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Emma (Kearsey) Grigg. She was a lifelong resident and a graduate of the Gloucester High School.
Being the wife of a letter carrier, she was once active in the Post Office Ladies Auxiliary. Later in life, she kept close to home, but did enjoy spending time on Stacey Boulevard.
She is survived by her son, James Barry, Jr.; and daughter, Linda F. (Barry) Ketchopulos; two grandsons, Christopher and Derek Ketchopulos; a sister Dorothy Buckley; a brother Robert, husband of Cecilia Grigg; and among several nieces and nephews, a special nephew, Teddy Fowler. She was also predeceased by a brother, Roland G. Grigg, Jr. and sister, Alice Silveira.
In keeping with her wishes, funeral services will be held privately in the Beechbrook Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
