Obituary

Helen Garland (Sacco) a life-long Medford resident died peacefully at home on Monday evening. She was 93.

Helen was born and raised in Medford the daughter of the late Angelo and Louise (Calindonia) Sacco. A naturally artistic woman, Helen enjoyed and taught the painting of porcelain china. She also enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and cooking. For 40 years she operated Garland’s Beauty Salon on High Street in West Medford Sq. She closed the shop upon her retirement.

The beloved wife of the late Edgar Garland, she was a devoted mother to William Garland and his wife Miriam of Haverhill and the late Edward Garland. She was a loving grandmother to Michelle, Michael and Lisa. She was a dear sister to the late Mildred Uvello, Eva Cantillon, Louise, James, George, Ernest, Joseph and Albert Sacco.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, January 5th, at 11 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 12 noon. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 thru 8.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Helen’s name to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02172.
