Margaret E. "Penny" (Reid) Arroyo, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was 65 years old.
Margaret was born in Boston on February 19, 1947, a daughter of the late Arthur Reid and Tillie A. (Comeau) Reid. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended the Boston Public School system. Margaret has been a homemaker where she dedicated herself to bringing up her children.
Margaret is the devoted mother of Federico Arroyo and Patricia of Charlestown, Martina Arroyo and Patty of Charlestown, Louis Arroyo of Pennsylvania, Sonjia Arroyo of Lee, Fernando Arroyo and Katie of Charlestown, Dedeira Arroyo and Ky of Belmont, Artania Leonard and Michael of Charlestown and Anthony Bolger of Charlestown. She is the loving Nana Penny to 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Arthur Reid, Susan Durgin, Suzanne Mullen, Thomas Reid, Edward Reid, Sandra Ortiz, Michael Reid and the late Linda Alvarado. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Margaret's Funeral on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Visiting huors will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
