Mary P. (Pina) Rose, 96, of New Bedford, died December 29, 2012 peacefully at home.
She was the wife of the late Manuel S. Monteiro and the former wife of the late Antonio J. Rose.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Laura (Galvao) Pina, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Rose was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She enjoyed music, dancing, cooking and being with her loving family.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Groebe of New Bedford; 8 grandchildren, Kimberly LeTendre and her husband Gregory of Chestnut Hill, Fern Groebe of Cambridge, Mark Groebe and his wife Patti of Easton, David Gomes, Jr. and his wife Christie, Diane Gomes and Dennis Gomes, all of New Bedford, Yusuf "Jack Rosas" Abdullah and his wives Hanifah Stanford and Kalilah Simmonds, all of Yemen, and Diane Rosas of Worcester; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Lorraine Gomes, Joseph Rose and Diane Rosas, the grandmother of the late Dawn Gomes and the sister of the late Justa Gomes, Julia Duarte, John Pina and Joaquim Pina.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, January 5th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday, January 4th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
