Mary Madeline Whitfield, 84, of Clarksville, TN, died on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Whitehaven Assisted Living. She was born on February 11, 1928 in Montgomery County, Tennessee to the late Homer Clyde Whitfield and Pearl Seay Whitfield. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton Whitfield and Robert L. Whitfield and two sisters, Barbara Howard and Margaret Myers.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Chuck Cato officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Mary was retired from Life of Georgia after 37 years of service. She graduated from Austin Peay State College in 1951. She was also a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Augusta Rutherford of Norfolk, VA; seven nephews, Gene (Lynn) Whitfield, Keith (Joyce) Whitfield, Rick (Nancy) Whitfield, Homer (Pam) Whitfield, Brent (Kris) Rutherford, Michael Howard, and Bobby Joe Myers; and five nieces, Linda Sue Price, Winnie Bagley, Judy Tull, Lisa Shanks, and Patricia Myers.
Pallbearers will be Tim Welker, Mike Kennedy, Reber Kennedy, Justin Whitfield, Steve Claxton, Todd Peters, and Homer Whitfield.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Whitehaven Assisted Living for the great care that was given to Mary Whitfield.
