Obituary

Gerard X. Quinn died suddenly on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the age of 98. Gerard was born in Hoboken, NJ, to the late Thomas and Anne Lardner Quinn. He was predeceased by his siblings Catherine, Mary, Thomas, William, Michael, John, Joseph, Patrick and his twin brother, Francis. He graduated from St. Michael’s H.S in Union City, N.J. and St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. He later moved to Washington, D.C. where he enlisted in the Air Force at the outbreak of WWII. He was stationed at an Air Force supply base in India, where he flew missions as a radioman on planes that re-supplied our troops.

Upon his discharge, he moved to California where he was a Math teacher for over 30 years. On his retirement, he moved to Teaneck, NJ, to be with his sister and brother’s families. He was a very caring and active member of St. Anastasia Parish where he attended daily mass and had many close friends who cared for him, especially Elizabeth Larson.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews (Quinn family, Lisa family, Kraemer Family and Howley family) and close friends who will cherish him in their memory. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 4-8 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at St. Anastasia’s RC Church, Teaneck. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
