Renate H. (Schlemminger) Weber, 78, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Henry A. Weber; her daughter, Monica R. Sahinis and her husband Vasilios of Worcester; granddaughter, Alyssa K. Sahinis; brother-in-law, Richard P. Abdella, Sr., of Worcester; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Steven H. Weber, and two sisters, Agnes E. Kull and Edeltraut C. Abdella. Renate was born in Mariampol, Lithuania, daughter of Otto and Herta E. (Kirstein) Schlemminger. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1952 with her family at the age of 18. Renate worked for the Worcester public schools as a cook and cafeteria manager for 27 years. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and President of the Germania Social Club of Worcester. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A strong woman, Renate was also known as a very caring person who was always smiling and happy-go-lucky. Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at UMass Memorial Medical Center and Brigham & Women's Hospital for their compassionate care. A special thank you goes to Renate's primary care physician, Dr. James Hurowitz, and all of his staff for their wonderful care and attention throughout the years.
Calling hours will be Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
