Jessie Mildred Barbee, 92, of Clarksville, TN, longtime resident of Albany, GA, died on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born on June 10, 1920 in Cuthbert, Georgia to the late Jesse (Jack) Lafate Spence and Vera Bernice Knighton Spence. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest G. Barbee; brother, Jack Spence; and four sisters, Agnes Engram, Mary Gill, Armenta Simmons, and Vera Spence.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Steve Louder and Rev. E.G. Sims officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 2 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA.
Jessie was a devoted housewife and member of Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son, David (Marjorie) Barbee of Clarksville, TN; sister, Margaret Stripling of Duluth, GA; five grandchildren, Mike Barbee, Cheryl Bedwell, Susan Smith, Paula Major Watts, and Jeff Major; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
