Obituary

Commander Lincoln H. Lippincott Jr., USN Retired, passed away on Dec. 22, 2012, at his home at Academy Point.

Born in 1924, in Boston, Lincoln was the son of Lincoln H. and Myrtle (Small) Lippencott. He graduated from Brown University in 1944.

Lincoln married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Fox, in March of 1945. She survives him along with their two children, Lincoln III of Colorado and Leanne Ouimette of New Hampshire. Together they have five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

After returning to their home in Noank, Linc became involved in volunteering at the Mystic Seaport, the Dennison Pequotsepost Nature Center, and the Noank Water Department. A 20 year active membership of the Catboat Association and longtime membership of the Ram Island Yacht Club, provided Linc and Joyce many happy times at sea. He was also a member of the Noank Historical Society and the American Legion.

Linc ended his working career at Electric Boat as a senior project engineer, fully retiring in 1986. He was then free to actively pursue his hobbies of golfing, gardening, and being with his beloved dogs. He had time for his kids and grandchildren attending many activities and adventures. For many winters Linc and Joyce resided on Jekyll Island, Ga., where they biked, golfed, and walked their Lab everyday at the beach.

Lincoln became a resident of Academy Point in 2009. The family appreciates and is thankful for the many wonderful people who gave him such loving care.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Academy Point in Mystic. Burial in Noank Cemetery with full military honors will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013,ar 11am.
