Obituary

Acushnet – Imelda “Mel” (Courville) Ellis, 80, of Acushnet died at home on June 27, 2004 after a long illness. She was the wife of Richard H. Ellis.

Mrs. Ellis was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Adelard and Anna (Michaud) Courville, and resided in Acushnet since 1957. She attended Long Plain United Methodist Church, Acushnet. She was employed as an office manager by the Acushnet Manufactured Homes until her retirement in 1992. She was active in Acushnet Town politics for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved people in general.

In addition to her widower, she is survived by a son: Richard A. Ellis and his wife Betsy J. of Acushnet; a daughter: Roberta R. Shaw and her husband Sandy of Amherst, NH; 2 grandchildren: Jesse C. Ellis and Mallory J. Ellis both of Acushnet; a sister: Rose Creelman of Stafford Springs, CT; her loving companions and caregivers: Nely and Samantha Pacheco of Acushnet; and several nieces & nephews.

She was sister of the late Omer Courville and Rita Samson.

Calling hours Wednesday, June 30, 3004, 5-8 P.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.

Funeral service Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Long Plain United Methodist Church, Acushnet.

Interment in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.
