Obituary

Lois W. Wilder, 86, of Ocilla, died Friday, December 21, 2012, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Ocilla Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Dowdle & the Rev. Andrew Wilder officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mrs. Wilder was born July 11, 1926 in Fitzgerald to the late Simon Peter & Eva Mae Yarbrough Williams. A graduate of Fitzgerald High School, Mrs. Wilder was a former employee of Ocilla Jewelry, McMillan Jewelers, the Irwin County Library, and Dill’s Hardware. For over 50 years, she taught Sunday school for the 2 & 3 year olds at Ocilla Baptist Church, of which she was also a member. After the death of her husband, she completed his term as an Irwin county commissioner. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word searches and embroidery.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Brenda W. & A.D. Busbin, Billy & Donna Wilder, and Bruce & Pat Wilder, all of Ocilla, a sister: Doris Gentry of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Kim & Lee Busbin, Andrew Wilder, Dana Wilder, Kasey & Jimmy Woods, and Wendy Pate; and five great-grandchildren: Matt Busbin, Allison Woods, Ashlee Woods, Reagan Pate, and Kyndal Pate. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Eugene Wilder, one brother: J. L. Williams and three sisters: Mary Lou Lee, Grace Grantham and Myrtle Mae Bullard and a son-in-law: Van Clark.
