Lisa Ann Gallup (26) from New York City, formerly of Wellesley, MA, passed peacefully Wednesday after a courageous battle with cancer. While undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Lisa miraculously worked full-time as a night nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital and received her Masters in Advanced Practice Nursing with a special focus in Acute Care from New York University. Lisa was selected as the student speaker at NYU's graduation and received the Rudin Family Student Award in recognition of scholarship, service, leadership and potential for future achievement. Previously, Lisa graduated from Boston College's Connell School of Nursing in 2009 and from Wellesley HS in 2004 where she was a three sport captain and recipient of the peer-elected Senior Cup. In the midst of a grueling treatment regimen, Lisa recently completed the NYC Half Marathon and Boston Triathlon while maintaining a social life typical of a young woman in Manhattan. Lisa is the daughter of Barry and Victoria Gallup of Wellesley and the sister of Barry Gallup, Jr. of New York City and the late Darren Douglas Gallup.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 22 at 1:00PM at the Wellesley Congregational (Village) Church, 2 Central Street, Wellesley MA 02482. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours omitted. Following the Service a private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
