TAUNTON – Jose Amaral, husband of the late Agnes (Moreira) Amaral, and the late Maria Conceicao (Benjamin) Amaral, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Dec. 16, 2012.
He was 80 years old.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Marianna Amaral.
Mr. Amaral moved to the U.S. in 1968 and resided in the Cambridge and Somerville areas before moving to Taunton in 1981.
A retired custodian, he was employed by Harvard University for over twenty years.
Mr. Amaral was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
In his spare time, he enjoyed raising farm animals.
He leaves three sons, John M. Amaral and his wife Diana of Berkley, Arthur M. Amaral and his wife Leslie of GA, and Paul M. Amaral and his wife Jennifer of Philadelphia, formerly of Taunton; a daughter, Maria Bairos and her husband Serafim of FL, formerly of Framingham; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Jose Amaral and the brother of the late Arthur, Alsuini, Ezeltina and John.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Dec. 20th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
