Obituary

Ayer- Minas A. Bottos, Known better to his family and friends as Mike, passed away peacefully Friday December 12, 2012 surrounded by his family after a long illness at Nashoba Park Assisted Living in Ayer.
He was born in Kerasohori, Greece and was the son of the late Athanasios and Anastasia ( Sioutis) Bottos. Minas is survived by his loving daughter, Anastasia M. “Daisy” Wernick and her husband Alan J. Wernick both of Shirley, his son Christos M. Bottos of Liverpoole , NY., and seven beautiful grandchildren, whom he adored; Michael C. Bottos, Aaron P. Wernick, Adam N. Wernick, Alyssa C. Wernick, Antonio M. Bottos, Kitso C. Bottos, and David C. Bottos.
Minas came to this country in 1951, to Philadelphia, PA. He later brought over his three sisters and five brothers: Eleni, Maria, Kiki, Elia, George, Nick and Phillip. He moved to Worcester in 1958 and began his life as a carpenter/cabinet maker while he ran a fruit stand with his brother in law Paul Economou. He worked for his brother in law Jimmy Grivas in Philadelphia for 2 weeks where he learned the pizza business. On his way back to Massachusetts he passed through New London, CT and decided to name his new business in Concord, Mass “New London Style Pizza”. It opened in 1967 and was one of the few pizza shops in the area. Thus he started his new life as an entrepreneur.
The Family would like to thank Nashoba Park Assisted Living and Vista Care Hospice, as well as all his doctors and, nurses and aides for the loving care they gave him during the final weeks of his life. They have been so caring and nurturing, not only to our father, but to the family as well. We are forever grateful.
As per Minas’ request there will be no calling hours, but you are welcome to attend his funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 18th, in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St. Fitchburg, MA 01420. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, is directing arrangements.
