James attended Butler High School in Augusta as well as Alexander Schools Inc. in Union Mills, N.C. He worked at Georgia Wholesale Florist for many years. Even though he was a big burly man, he was soft on the inside. He loved his dogs, Sasha and Bobbie, who preceded him in their journey to Heaven.
He loved his Lord and Savior, and was an example of someone who was truly changed by the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. He truly lived the scripture: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. He was a defender of the faith, and while traveling with the Christian Wrestling Association of Augusta, spread the good Word and saw many people come to Christ. At First Baptist of Evans, where he was a member, he loved to hug the ladies and shake the gentlemen’s hands. He will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Angela, he is survived by his brother, Randy Avret, a sister, Patricia Trogdon, his nephews, Caleb, Matthew, Joseph, Steven, Austin and Scott, his nieces, Sarah and Jessica, his mother in law, Dovie T. Walker, and his in laws, Tim, Jan, David, Greg, Leslie, Letitia, Jennifer and Cathy.
If so desired, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Evans, 515 North Belair Road, Evans, Georgia, 30809.
