East Bridgewater – James J. A. Lucier 76, a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, died Friday December 14 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Eleanor (Lewis) Lucier.
Born and raised in Brockton he was the son of the late Adelor and Blanche (Hayden) Lucier and a graduate of Brockton High School.
As a resident of East Bridgewater for over 56 years James was a familiar face having been a self-employed and successful builder in the area. He also worked in the local area as a real estate broker, based in Holbrook.
For many years he had been a proud member of the Army Reserves.
James loved being outdoors enjoying nature and gardening, and will be remembered as an “all round handyman” to his family and friends. He was an avid Red Sox fan and along with his wife Eleanor he had loved to travel.
James had truly enjoyed decorating at Christmas time, but most of all treasured the many times spent with his large family surrounding him.
In addition to his beloved wife Eleanor, he is survived by his loving children Gary Lucier and his wife Debbie of Springfield, VA, Bonnie Romano and her husband Joe of East Bridgewater, Donna Mitchell and her husband Tom of East Bridgewater, James Lucier, Jr. and his wife Betty of Brockton, Glenn Lucier of Halifax, Randall Lucier and his wife Cheryl of East Bridgewater and Michele Rivero and her husband Enrique of Camarillo, CA, and his sister Joan Tinkham of Hudson, NH. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Russell Lucier and Evelyn Brophy.
Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service to be held Saturday December 22 at 6 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 5-6 PM.
