Obituary

Ethel M. (McDaniel) Vaughan, 86, of Medfield died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield. She was the wife of Jesse H. Vaughan who died in 1976.

Born in Lenoir County Kingston, NC on November 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Battle) McDaniel.

Mrs. Vaughan was a resident of Medfield since 1996 and formerly resided in Kokomo, IN, Milford and Medway.

Before her retirement, she worked as an L.P.N. in private care and had previously worked at the Wrentham State School.

A very active member of the Historic Charles Street A.M.E. Church in Roxbury, Mrs. Vaughan held the office of deaconess and evangelist and was a member of the Sarah Gorham Missionary, Hunter’s Unit and Lay Committee and was an avid fundraiser for the church.

She enjoyed plants and Christian music and broadcasting.

She is survived by her daughter Joanne S. Vaughan-Webster of Boston, two sons, Herbert A. Vaughan of Norfolk and Rev. Stephen R. Vaughan and his wife Adrienne of Middletown, CT, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She is also survived by a sister Bertha McDaniel of Spittsville, Ontario, a brother Elijah McDaniel and his wife Norma of Charlotte, NC and a sister-in-law Margaret M. McDaniel of Sharon.

She was the mother of the late Carol E. Vaughan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Historic Charles Street A.M.E. Church, 551 Warren St., Roxbury on Tuesday, December 18 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Medway.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway and on Tuesday morning from 10 – 11 a.m. in the church.

If sending flowers, please have them delivered to the funeral home by Monday afternoon.
