Melba Grantham Roberts, 84, went home Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Irwin County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday, December 15, at Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church in Berrien County with Elder Robert Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Roberts was born December 13, 1927 in Ocilla to the late John and Frankie Sirmans Grantham. A graduate of Mystic High School, she taught school for a year at Riverbend School. She was a homemaker and was a former employee of My Fabric & Gift Shop in Tifton. She was a member of Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church. She loved her family, crocheting and fishing.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband: Darby Roberts of Enigma; children: Jerry & Louise Roberts of Enigma, Don & Debbie Roberts of Franklin, NC, Susan & Paul Whitten of Swansea, SC and Tillman Roberts of Old Town, FL; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; sister and brother-in-law: JoAnn & Carlton Whitley of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne Blease and 2 sisters, Eloise Gibbs and Ethel Kate Grantham.
