LEICESTER: R. Lenore “Nonie” (Young) Thebodo, 85, of Leicester died Wednesday, Dec. 12 in Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 64 years, Edward M. Thebodo, a son Robert E. Thebodo and his wife Honora of Lyme, NH, a daughter Lisbeth A. Bumpus and her husband Peter of Rindge, NH, five grandchildren Briant Cormier, II and his wife Laurie, John, Robert and Matthew Thebodo and Darcey Cormier, four great-grandchildren Braydon & Andrew Thebodo and Edward & Jackson Cormier and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother Robert Young and two sisters Nancy Ferrie & Alice Kacavich.
Nonie was born in Worcester, daughter of John W. and Marion (Martel) Young. She was a Police Officer in the Town of Leicester for 23 years before retiring in 1982. She graduated from North High School in Worcester. She was a member of the Leicester Women’s Club. She volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels and was named Citizen of the Year in 2007 for all her volunteer work in the community. She was a lifelong camper at Otter River State Forest in Templeton. She enjoyed reading, counter cross stitch, gardening and dancing.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11:30 AM in MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery in Leicester. A calling period will precede the funeral from 10:00-11:30 AM on Saturday.
