Manuel Oliveira, Jr., 100, of Westport died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at home. He was husband of the late Mary (Nicolau) Oliveira, to whom he was married for 73 years.
Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Manuel and Marianna (Amorin) Oliveira. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, Mr. Oliveira was a firefighter for the Newport Naval Base. His greatest joys were his family and his home.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Pauline Drawdy of Tampa, FL and Patricia Kershaw of Westport; 4 sisters: Rose Correia of Dartmouth, Marianna Correia of Dartmouth, Tessie Costa of Somerset and Tina Bariteau of Bellingham; 3 grandsons: David Drawdy, Jeffrey Kershaw and Evan Kershaw; a great granddaughter: Alyssa Drawdy; and many nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Alice Oliveira, Edward Oliveira, John Oliveira, Silvanna DeCosta, Mary Santos and Ida Larue.
Private arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.
