Mary Martha (Walsh) Roche, of Winchester, passed away Dec. 11, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Leo F. Roche, Jr. Born in Somerville, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Delia (Murphy) Walsh. A graduate of Lowell State Teachers College, Mrs. Roche was a teacher in the Stoneham public school system for many years. During her extensive teaching career, Mary also taught in Winchester, Wayland and Darien, CT. She was the loving mother of M. Therese “Terry” Roche of Winchester, Karen Roche Cosgrove of Winchester, Beth Roche-Johnston of Hingham, Leo F. “Chip” Roche III of Yarmouth, ME and John David Roche of West Hartford, CT. Mrs. Leader was the sister of Margaret Leader of Winchester, the late Anne Driscoll of Woburn and the late John Walsh of West Medford. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Sat. Dec. 15 at 10AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11AM. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 4-8PM. Interment is private.
