Frances Marie Yancey, 55, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center, Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Gene Chaney officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Yancey was born September 20, 1948 in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Lawson Virgil and Jessie Holman Carelock. She lived in the community most of her life.Mrs. Yancey was owner/operator of Marie’s Variety Store, former owner/operator of Pine Street Flea Market, Former employee of Dixie Peanut Company, Fitzgerald Mills, Tice Yarn, Modern Fibers, J & L Oil Company and Mr. B’s. She attended Eastside Holiness Baptist Church.
Mrs. Yancey is survived by her husband: James Lamar Yancey; one son: Ronnie L. Yancey; one sister, Wanda Roberson; two brothers, Larry Carelock and Harry Carelock, all of Fitzgerald; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Marie Yancey and one brother, E.J. Carelock.
