Robert “Bob” Davidson of Raynham, MA passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was unselfishly cared for at home by his wife of 58 years, Olinda (DaCosta) Davidson, with kind assistance from hospice. He is also survived by children that he loved dearly – Lyn O’Leary of Grafton, NH, Mark Davidson of Raynham, MA, Lee Spearin of Bridgewater, MA, Asia Maria Davidson of Bristol, RI. Bob was predeceased by his youngest son, James Davidson of Taunton, MA. Bob was also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Bob was also predeceased by the following birth family members: his mother Maggie Davidson, his brother Harold Davidson, and sister Dorothy Andrews – all originally of Dagsboro, DE.
Bob was lovingly raised by a foster family in Lincoln, DE and was pre-deceased by foster parents John B. and Anna Green, and foster brother, Donald Green of Greenwood, DE. He is survived by supportive foster brothers John L. Green of Greenwood, DE and Richard Green of Milford, DE.
Bob graduated from Milford, DE High School and served for five years in the U.S. Army, performing two tours of duty in the Korean War with the 25th Infantry Division as a Staff Sargent, and he was honored with a Bronze Star for bravery.
Bob started his long and fruitful career in the automobile business with Roberts Motors in Taunton, MA, where he trained and grew from body worker, to mechanic, to service manager. Bob later opened an auto repair business with a partner, called Bob & Vin’s. These work experiences led to a 23 year career with Chrysler Corporation, where Bob ultimately retired as New England Zone Manager.
Bob’s family invites all friends and family to attend a wake in his honor, Friday, December 14th, 2012 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton, MA. Everyone is also invited to Bob’s funeral mass at Holy Family Church in East Taunton, MA, Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at 10:00 AM, and internment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery will follow directly after mass.
