BEVERLY: Janet D. (Lapointe) Leach, 94, formerly of Odell Ave., died Sunday, December 9, 2012 in the Blueberry Hill Healthcare Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Harold M. Leach, Jr.
Born in Salem on October 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Dora (Armstrong) Lapointe. She had resided in Salem for many years before moving to Beverly over fifty-five years ago.
Janet was employed in the housekeeping department at Beverly Hospital for ten years before retiring in 1971. She had also once worked as a lunch lady at the former Prospect School in Beverly for several years. She was a member of the Beverly Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lucille L. and Robert “Red” Fabri of Beverly; five grandchildren, Angela Amor, Elena Lamb, Darci LaMontagne, Tiffany LaMontagne and Justin LaMontagne; six great-grandchildren, Daniel Donahue, Daniel Amor, Rebecca Amor, Katlyn Amor, Jeffrey Lamb and Sierra Lamb. She was also predeceased by her two daughters, Susan Hatch and Judith Kelley, a sister, Rita Belleau and two brothers, Henry and Lucien Lapointe.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
