Mary Lillian “Tence” Cooper Tomberlin, 90, of Tifton died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Tift Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ronnie Howell will officiate with burial to follow. Chad Lott, Josh Althen, Kenny Richards, Jacob Saxton, Justin Saxton and Dominque Butler will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be meeting at 114 Althen Way in Scooterville.
Mrs. Tomberlin was born on December 22, 1921, in Turner County and was the daughter of William Albert Cooper and Julia Myrtle Hill Cooper, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Tomberlin, who died in 1998; one son-in-law, Arthur Althen; seven brothers, Richard, Otis, Monroe, William “Simp”, Virgil “Bob”, Jake, William Albert “Buddy”; and four sisters, Mattie “Pap”, Edress, Dorothy and Vista Mae. She was a retired seamstress and loved sewing and growing flowers.
Mrs. Tomberlin is survived by one son, Rodney K. Tomberlin of Ty Ty; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Carol and Evans Lott and Kay Althen, all of Ty Ty; five grandchildren, Marcy Carver, Cathy Saxton, Chad Lott, Katie Whidden and Josh Althen; and eight great-grandchildren.
