Irene L. Gill
Longtime Lowell Resident
TEWKSBURY: Irene L. (Toupin) (Broderick) Gill, age 82, a resident of Lowell for 72 years, passed away at the D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell on Friday, December 7, 2012.
She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Broderick and the late Matthew Gill.
Born in Montreal, Canada on September 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Adolph Toupin and the late Irene (Desmarais) Toupin.
Irene was raised in Panama until moving to Lowell in 1940.
She attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a retail clerk at the Bradlees Department Store as well as the 1300 Variety Store in Lowell.
She is survived by two sons, James R. Broderick and his wife Carmen Rinne Broderick of Tewksbury, and Phillip M. Broderick of Lowell; three grandchildren, James R. Broderick, Jr. of Merrimack, NH, Shannon Broderick of Nashua, NH, and Cheryl Broderick of Lynn; six great grandchildren; one sister, Aline Mcinnis of Lowell; her former daughter-in-law, Tina Broderick of Nashua, NH; also several nieces and nephews including Catherine Hardy and her husband Normand of Lowell.
Irene was the mother of the late Stephen Broderick.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 4-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Rd., Tewksbury. There will not be a procession from the funeral home.
