Obituary

Jeanne M. (Pelletier) Guilmette of Salem, died Monday, December 3, 2012 at Grosvenor Park Nursing Center in Salem following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Armand Guilmette.

Born and raised in Salem and Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Diana (LaPlante) Pelletier. As a young woman she first worked for the Marblehead Laundry Co. Jeanne and Armand married in 1939. In later years she was employed by Shetland Industries and Parker Brothers Games, then of Salem. She retired in the late 1970’s and was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish as well as Les Dames de la Ste. Famille of that parish. Following the closure of St. Joseph Parish, she became a member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem.

Jeanne was an extremely gifted seamstress and knitter. She loved her family and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was also fond of doing crafts and cooking.

She is survived by a son, Joseph G. Guilmette and his wife Nancy of North Hampton, NH, two daughters, Jo An M. Gaudreault and her husband Ronald of Northport, NY, Gloria R. Matton and her husband Wilfred of Salem, 2 sisters, Rita Pelletier of Salem and Lorette Theriault of Brookfield, CT, as well as 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her baby daughter little Marie, brothers, Albert, Arthur, Robert, Rene, Thomas and Leo Pelletier and her sisters, Annette Pelletier, Sisters Rose & Diana Pelletier, of the order Sisters of Ste. Chretienne.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 9 AM, to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours at the funeral home: Sunday 3 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ste. Anne Music Ministry, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem or Sisters of Ste. Chretienne, 297 Arnold St., Wrentham, MA 02093.
