John Thurston Wooten, age 95 of Clarksville, TN, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center.
He was born on March 23, 1917 in Clarksville, TN to the late Lawrence Wooten and Lena Smith Wooten. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Jean Wooten; second wife, Sara Frances Wooten; daughter, Sherry Jean Wooten; step-daughter, Kathy Manning; and two brothers, Forest Wooten and Lester Wooten.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 1 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with Rev. Harold Witmer officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
John was a WWII Veteran with the U.S. Navy. He retired from Civil Service at Ft. Campbell, KY after 28 years of service. He was also a member of The Community Church.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Wooten (Rise Mikolajewski) of Clarksville, TN; step-daughter, Kim Totten of North Carolina; and two step-grandchildren, Amy and Jeremy.
Pallbearers will be Mark Oldham, Frankie Oldham, Larry Wooten, Chris Wooten, Shannon Wooten, and Patrick Jones.
