Lauretta E. Foss, 83

Lauretta E. (Gamble) Foss, 83, of Norton, formerly of Walpole passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Canterbury Woods in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter H. Foss, Jr. who died on January 9, 2008.
Born in Quincy, MA on February 19, 1929, she was a dear daughter of the late Major, Sr. and Etta (Anderson) Gamble.
Lauretta grew up and was educated in Quincy and later moved to Weymouth. She attended Northeastern University for three years where she studied engineering, and where she also met her future husband to be, Walter Foss.
Mrs. Foss spent her working career in the insurance industry. Prior to retiring she was an underwriter for the former Roblin Insurance Co. in Needham.
A resident of Norton for the past 30 years, she had previously resided in Walpole for many years. While living in Walpole she was a member of the United Church in Walpole where she also sang in the church choir.
Lauretta’s hobbies included gardening, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching golf on television and boating with her late husband. Her favorite times spent were those with family and she was especially proud of her adoring grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan L. Powers and her husband Mike of Norton. Her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Claire Powers and Cody Powers both of Norton. She was the loving aunt of Dana Gamble of Hull, Cindy Gumpright of Pembroke and the sister in law of Jean Gamble of Weymouth. Lauretta was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, David and Major Gamble, Jr.
