Dean Francis Gould, age 82 of Prosser, entered into rest on December 3, 2012 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 16, 1930 to Luther and Lillian (Wachs) Gould in Phillips County, Kansas. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the US Army and served for two years. After his honorable discharge he worked on construction of roads, bridges and dams in Missouri and Oregon.
Dean became acquainted with Alma “Maurine” Gould when he was transferred to her home town of Hamilton, Missouri. They were married there on December 12, 1958. They made their home there for ten years before moving to Lake Grove, Oregon. They settled in Prosser in 1971 where Dean served as Benton County Road Superintendent until 1983. They moved to Camano Island and he worked for the Island County Road Department until his retirement in 1990, after which the couple returned to Prosser.
Dean loved spending time with his grandsons. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes, and in his earlier years, fishing and hunting. He had a big heart for all of his pets.
Dean is survived by his children, Lynda Fox and husband, Randy of Prosser, Roger Gould and wife, Robin of Kennewick and James Gould and wife Melanie of Prosser; his grandsons, Nicolas Fox, Trevor Fox, Jarrett Gould, and Jason Gould. He is also survived by his sister, Wilma Traster of McMinnville, Oregon; brother-in-law, Donald Bathgate and wife Pat of Garden City, Missouri and sister-in-law, Helen Gilbert and husband, Bill of Turlock, California; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Maurine on January 2, 2009; one brother, Willard Gould; and two sisters, Mabel Forney and Lois Struthers.
Private family services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Prosser Funeral Home. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Prosser Cemetery.
